Adjustment of a side play of the hug bearing

Cars to 9/89 g the issue and all station wagon models (not all-wheel drive)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To change the provision of a disk of a wheel concerning a nave that the balanced wheel could be established in former situation.
  2. To weaken nuts of a wheel of the car standing on the earth.
  3. To lift the car.
  4. To remove a wheel.
  5. To remove a nave cap by means of the screw-driver, without having damaged it at the same time.
  1. To unbend the bent nut fillet that the nut could be rotated.
  1. To unscrew a nut of a nave and to replace with new.

The nave nut on the left side of the car has the left carving, for easing it needs to be rotated to the right (clockwise).

  1. To screw a nave nut a hand until it adjoins. Then to tighten a nut a dynamometer key with effort of 25 Nanometers.

To rotate the brake drum when tightening a nut not to clamp the hug bearing.

  1. Several times to turn a nave that the bearing correctly sat down.
  1. To weaken a little a nave nut until it is turned by a hand.
  1. Way of adjustment without dynamometer: Again slightly to tighten a nave nut, turning at the same time a nave. The brake drum has to be rotated easily, however should not be felt a noticeable side side play. If there is a side play, to check it the arrow indicator, see the Section Check of the Hug Bearing.
  1. In the workshops MAZDA the hug bearing is adjusted as follows. (In practice in the presence of some experience the adjustment described above suffices):
    • At the weakened hug bearing to establish on one of wheel bolts a dynamometer at right angle.
    • To pull for a dynamometer until the nave begins to be turned. The effort when the nave begins to rotate, depends on an epiploon. To remove and write down indications.
    • To slowly tighten a nut of a nave and at the same time to rotate a nave, the correct tension will not be reached yet. The required value makes 2,6 — 8,5 N. K to it it is necessary to add previously measured value of resistance of an epiploon.
    • At correctly adjusted bearing the torque at which the nave begins to rotate makes 0,15 — 0,49 Nanometers.
  1. To hammer a nave nut fillet into a pin groove with not really sharp chisel. It serves for protection against weakening of a nut.
  1. To hammer a new cap of a nave by means of a pipe.

It is obligatory to replace the deformed caps as because of leakage moisture can get to the hug bearing and destroy it for short term.

  1. To screw a wheel, considering at the same time marking on a nave. To lower the car and to tighten wheel nuts cross-wise with effort of 100 Nanometers.
