Repair of the wheel brake cylinder

If the wheel cylinder is not required to be replaced, it can be sorted in the established state. Previously it is necessary to remove brake shoes. The wheel brake cylinder the latest should be replaced when brake fluid gets through cuffs. When replacing brake shoes it is always necessary to remove from the cylinder boots and to look in the cylinder. If behind boots it is damp or all wheel cylinder is covered with brake fluid, to replace the cylinder. Besides replacement is necessary if pistons in the cylinder slide hardly, there are grooves or a rust. In one of these cases the wheel either does not slow down, or is braked constantly.

  1. To remove brake shoes.
  2. To remove boots the screw-driver. Carefully, not to damage caps.
  3. To take out both pistons with cuffs.

At the same time can flow out a little brake fluid, enclose a rag. To take out a spring.

  1. To remove cuffs from pistons, at the same time not to damage pistons.
  2. To wipe the cylinder from within a pure rag. On a working surface there should not be grooves and a rust, if necessary to replace the cylinder.
  3. To clear all elements alcohol or brake fluid. To observe indications for the treatment of brake fluid.

Not to apply liquid on the basis of mineral oils, such as gasoline or kerosene, otherwise there can be malfunctions in the brake system.



  1. To unscrew the pumping gate, it is possible to replace. At the same time not to lose a steel ball.
  2. If laying is replaced, it is obligatory to use all repair kit.
  3. To put on cuffs pistons so that sealing edges were turned in the direction of liquid forcing.
  4. To cover both pistons and the working surface of the cylinder with special lubricant for brake cylinders, for example, of ATE.

Not to use former lubricant, otherwise brake fluid will be polluted.

  1. To insert the left piston into the wheel cylinder.
  2. To insert a spring on the right and the right piston.
  3. To put on boots.
  4. To establish brake shoes and the brake drum.
  5. To pump over the brake system. At the same time, as a rule, it is enough to pump over only that cylinder where pipelines were opened. If after pumping brake pressure floats, it is necessary to pump over all system.
  6. It is several times strong to squeeze out a brake pedal. It regulates back brakes.
