Check of the relay

Relays are built in many current contours. The switching relay works as the switch. For example: When driving beam is turned on via the manual switch, the relay receives the command, a tax for lamps of driving beam current. It is possible to give, of course, current from the battery on lamps directly via the manual switch. At all consumers of the electric power with a high current (high beam headlamps, screen wipers, fog lights) relays are switched on not to overload the switch and to provide the shortest way for current. Along with such switching relays there are also functional relays, for example for system of windscreen washer screen wiper or the relay of a signal of inclusion of external lighting.

Check of switching relays

At inclusion of the corresponding consumer on the relay the signal of management is given, it means, the magnetic coil in the relay pulls contact and closes a contour of "working current". Working current proceeds via the relay further to the consumer.

It is the simplest to check serviceability of the relay, having replaced it with obviously serviceable. Act in workshops this way. As fans very seldom have on hand a serviceable spare relay, the following step with the so-called switching relay which except other is used for inclusion of fog and main lights is recommended.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To take out the relay from fastening.
  2. To include ignition and the corresponding switch.
  3. At first to determine by the indicator of tension whether tension is put to the corresponding plus plug of a nest of the relay. For this purpose to connect the indicator to weight and carefully to insert other contact into the plug. If the light-emitting diode of the indicator lights up, tension is put. If the indicator showed lack of tension, to check conducting for existence of break from a plus pole of the battery to the plug according to the scheme.
  4. To make a crossing point of a piece of the isolated wire, the ends have to be smoothed out.
  5. To connect this crossing point in a relay nest the plug of plus of the battery which carries constantly out tension with a relay exit. It almost too most that to insert the serviceable relay. The arrangement of plugs in a nest of the relay can be determined by flowers of cables according to the scheme.
  6. If at the inserted crossing point, for example, driving beam lights up, means the relay is faulty.
  7. If driving beam does not light up, to define whether connection of a headlight with weight is correct. Then to check for break a wire from the relay plug to a headlight on the basis of the scheme.
  8. If it is required, to insert the new relay.
