Removal and installation/check of the sensor in the fuel tank

The sensor of level is screwed in above in the fuel tank. At lowering of the level of fuel in the sensor the float falls. At the same time due to the sliding contact on a float sensor resistance increases. Because of it tension on the index falls, and the arrow falls in the direction "Is empty". If the float continues to fall, on some models in a certain situation the alarm contact becomes isolated and on a guard of devices the alarm lamp of a reserve reserve of fuel lights up. The fuel level sensor should be checked if the index of level of fuel on a guard of devices shows too high, too low or does not show fuel level at all.

Models with the four-wheel drive have two divided fuel level sensors. The fuel level sensor of the fuel pump is in the left half of a tank, depending on the direction of the movement, the sensor of the auxiliary pump is in the right half of the fuel tank, also looking in the direction of the movement forward. At emergence of malfunctions it is necessary to check both sensors.

Check condition: All electric wires have to be checked for course of current according to the electric circuit, cm the Head Sistem of electric equipment.

At removal of the sensor a fuel quantity can act. Vapors of fuel are poisonous therefore it is necessary to provide good ventilation of the room. To avoid hit of fuel on skin. To work in toplivostoyky mittens. Not to work near naked flame! To keep in readiness the fire extinguisher!

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To disconnect a weight cable from the battery.

At the same time data from memory of malfunctions of the engine or a protective code of the radio receiver are erased. Before shutdown of the battery it is necessary to read instructions in the Section Removal also installation of the battery.

  1. To remove a back seat, see the Head Kolesa and tires, a body, coloring of the car, care of the car.
  1. To unscrew a cover of the fuel pump and to switch-off the plug.
  1. To weaken hose collars and to disconnect fuel hoses. For simplification of installation to mark hoses with an adhesive tape.
  2. To weaken bolts of fastening of the fuel level sensor.
  3. To delay the sensor up, to incline aside and to take out. At the same time to enclose a rag and to collect the following fuel.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Holding the sensor in adjusting situation to measure by an ohmmeter resistance in the specified provisions of a float. Models to 9/89 g of the issue: To connect an ohmmeter to plugs and and b on the plug.
  1. Situation corresponds to degree of fullness of a gasoline tank. "0" corresponds to an empty tank, "1/2" corresponds half to the filled tank, situation "1" corresponds to a full tank.

If value does not correspond demanded, the fuel level sensor should be replaced.

Installation

  1. To insert the sensor with new laying.
  2. To install the sensor and to tighten fastening bolts.
  3. To put on fuel-supply lines according to marking and to fix by collars.
  4. To connect the plug and to screw a cover.
  5. To establish a back seat, see the Head Kolesa and tires, a body, coloring of the car, care of the car.
  6. To connect a weight cable to the battery.
  7. If are available, to determine time on hours and to set a protective code of the radio receiver.
  8. To check work of the index of level of fuel for dashboards.
